On Sunday, our 7.5 year old, expensive when purchased refrigerator died. We noticed the freezer was not working at full capacity and things were soft then we tested the fridge temperature and it was at 10C. I salvaged a few things but everything else has been thrown out - we can't risk food poisoning. I should have written down the contents then worked out the cost of the items that were lost. Well over $200 I would think (eg. more than 20 jars/bottles of stuff at say $3 each, plus cheese, butter, tuna, bacon, jams plus all the freezer goods). You just can't trust anything once it has been refrigerated then bought back to room temperature.

Yup, this is what 7.5 years of fluff and crud looks like under the fridge! Eek!

So we are left with just our little bar fridge out in the garage for now until we hear if they can source a new compressor for it (it is an Amana brand). If they can't, we will need a new fridge! Eek!
