Okay so after a very slack Saturday spent in my slouchy tracky dacks with Brianna watching firstly One Fine Day (my most favourite movie!) then back to back Father of the Bride 1 and 2 - it was time to get out in the garden. The sun was shining so I had no excuse!

As you can see - I have my work cut out for me...
~

The dead looking plant is Cat Mint which dies off over winter. The past 2 years, I have burned it
to the ground and then it springs back with green, fresh growth almost immediately and forms a nice new bush for the summer.
~

You can just see a tinge of green underneath, that is what regenerates.

This is the same area with carpet roses pruned and the cat mint burned off. I really need a load or two of bark as it has all disintergrated. I still have about half as much to go again - I need to take it easy with my neck and shoulder, I don't want that flaring up again. I might tackle just one carpet rose each night this week then that will get the job done.
~

I thought this was strange - two Aggy flower heads amongst all the dead ones from last summer? Spring must be very close!
~

I have snails galore - they love the Agapanthus plants so some pet-safe snail bait has been laid.

Gus produced this yummy chicken dish for dinner...

Here is the recipe, just click on the picture and it should enlarge enough for you to read.

This is the book it is from, there are lots more great roasting recipes.

How lucky am I? Not only does the MOTH (Man Of The House) cook - he cleans up as well!
Poor dude had taken the range hood apart to clean all the accumulated fat and 3 hours later, had skin off his knuckles everywhere, trying to put the thing back together! He had to call in re-inforcements (Ferg) to help him! We had to cover our ears because of the language (blush)!
